Our physical activity heroes

At Brimhams Active, our team is dedicated to helping you, our community, to move more, live well and feel great.

This hard work does not go unnoticed and two very deserving members of our team have been shortlisted for a Physical Activity Hero Award with UK Active. Our managing director Mark is also a finalist for the Outstanding Leadership Award, a testament to his hard work and commitment to transforming a conventional leisure service to a community health and wellbeing company.

Let’s hear a bit more about our finalists!

Jane Charlton, a specialist instructor, has taught aquafit, delivered adult weight management programmes and made outstanding contributions to individuals facing challenges related to Parkinson’s, osteoarthritis, cancer, and mental health issues. Jane is continuously learning, undertaking CPD in her own time to improve her knowledge and skills with the aim of helping even more people. She has successfully developed new classes to meet the needs of her participants for progression routes, particularly within falls prevention.

Vicki Watson, also a specialist instructor for almost 25 years, has led our stroke rehabilitation programme and exercises for neurological conditions which include multiple sclerosis, cerebral palsy, dementia, Parkinson’s and brain trauma injuries. She is dedicated to improving participant's mobility and functional capability, producing personalised programmes for everyone. Vicki also participates in advisory group meetings with Parkinson’s UK, joining webinars and seminars with the Chartered Society of Physiotherapists to continuously improve her knowledge and expertise.

Both finalists for the Physical Activity Hero Award are a huge inspiration and we feel incredibly honoured by their genuine compassion and unwavering commitment to everyone they help at Brimhams Active!

Last but by no means least, our managing director Mark Tweedie’s nomination for the Outstanding Leadership Award is also incredibly deserving. Mark is dedicated to creating an environment where everyone can succeed and thrive and is a role model, leader and mentor combined. He is driven to improve the lives of communities through physical activity and the power of movement.

We already feel like winners to have such incredible people make up the Brimhams Active team, and we extend all our gratitude to the rest of our people who pour their hearts and souls into making a difference in our community.
